Say “Scat” to the Tat
- Posted on: Nov 15 2016
Were you on a bender and the next day found yourself all “tatted up?” Yes, the explosion of tattoo parlors has made it quite easy to make an impulsive decision that leaves an indelible mark.
Unfortunately, now that tattoo of the bird in flight up the side of your neck doesn’t go well with the wardrobe your new job demands. Or the name of your “soul mate” who ended up not so sole-mating is now the last thing you want across your back shoulder. Or maybe your sagging skin has made the Angel of Death from 15 years ago look more like Jabba the Hut.
Yes, tattoos are so permanent, yet you can wish they were fleeting.
Fortunately, you can make them fleeting with our laser tattoo removal at Creative Image Laser Solutions.
How does it work?
Laser tattoo removal works by targeting high-intensity light onto the tattoo. We set our lasers to different wavelengths to correspond with the different colors in the tattoo. When the energy hits the color it shatters the ink into smaller particles that the body then absorbs. The lymphatic system of the body gradually absorbs the color and makes the tattoo fade.
Multiple treatments are necessary, however, due to different factors. The type of ink, the colors involved, the depth the inks were placed — these all affect the ease with which we can remove the tattoo.
What colors are best?
Black and blue tattoo inks are the best for laser removal because they absorb all the laser wavelengths. Other colors are more difficult and may require more treatments. White ink does not respond to laser treatments.
Is tattoo removal painful?
The brief bursts of laser energy feel akin to a rubber band being lightly snapped on your skin. If your tattoo is in a sensitive area of the body, we may use some topical numbing anesthetic, but usually they aren’t necessary.
